(Bob) I'm watching Super Bowl 44, of course, even as I type this between plays, washing down popcorn with Lime Diet Coke. After I blogged last night, I recieved an email message from Janda Raker informing me that I had won the January Flash Fiction5 writing competition with my 100-word story, which included five very different assigned words. It's pretty exciting to learn as she wrote, "you're an award winning author!"

I must have been pretty pumped, because after just four hours sleep, I awoke at 3 a.m. with another story in mind for the February competition. I hopped out of bed and began scribbling.

I squeezed in almost thirty minutes more of sleep before getting shaved, dressed, and heading back to the Coastal Bend Woodcarving show. This only gave me a "bigger head", for as the show judging was completed, the pieces I entered in competition won six 3rd Place ribbons, five 2nd Place, and two First Place awards.

Sandi remained at the RV Resort to attend the Sunday morning worship service, and then in the afternoon a Gospel Concert.

I've included a photo of my woodcarvings, not neatly arranged, as I hurriedly packed up to depart the show this afternoon in time to see the Super Bowl kick-off. There's also a photo of the hawk woodcarving that won People's Choice, Mayor's Award, Best of Open level, and Best of Show. This happy artist went home with four handsome glass trophies and $500.
