"Peter the Great & wife Catherine I" led us back down the 40 stairs and outside in front of the palace for still more entertainment. The band played and a horse & carriage arrived bringing dancers who performed for us.
At the close of the entertainment we left the palace and walked about a block to the dining room. One of our group took this photo of us with the palace behind us.
We had an elegant meal with many courses including caviar with the entree being salmon. During the dinner there were folkloric dancers and singing.
We were at table 17 (our table in the photo) with the 2 couples from Los Alamos & 3 other couples. The room was packed and there was another smaller room behind us. We were glad to be in the main room.
This was our last view of Catherine's Palace and the sun was still shining even though it was nearly 11 p.m. The temperature was in the 60's so just perfect. It was "white nights" by the time we got back to the ship.
