Return to the Ship 6/26/10

This is Julia, our stateroom steward. She was just great, kept everything clean and was very pleasant to talk with. She was from Honduras. Of the 704 passengers on board, we were told that 700 were off the ship today so much of the staff was given 5 hrs off the ship, too.
We returned from Berlin at 9 p.m. and were greeted by a line of the staff to greet us starting inside the port building and leading all the way into the ship.

This shows more of the line with one of the chefs greeting passengers. They were giving us cold drinks and hot wet towels as we walked toward the ship. There is a sign hanging which says "welcome home".

And the band was playing on one of the decks above where we were entering to welcome us back, too. Very festive & fun! The cruise always ends with a video showing a variety of sights from each port, the video is played the last evening and then runs on the tv for the rest of the time you are on board. And guess who showed up for several long seconds as he was getting back on the ship? You guessed it--Bob McGinnis. Too bad we don't have a copy!

They had kept the dining rooms open late and we went to the buffet to get Diet Cokes, sat with others and talked about all we had seen in Berlin. And we sat & watched our "sail away" into the beautiful sunset. The end of a long special day. And we were in bed by 11 p.m.
