Tempelhof Airlift Memorial & Allied Museum 6/26/10

The museum was very interesting with many exhibits to cover WWII and the division of Germany after the war. We didn't have enough time to spend to read everything we would have liked to read but got a good overview.

There were quite a few exhibits with Americans featured particularly like this one of JFK. It was exactly 47 years earlier on this date that JFK made his famous visit to Berlin.
This airplane was part of the museum and took part in the Berlin airlift during the occupation. You can judge the plane size by the people in the photo.

Near the museum we saw a plaza named for our President Kennedy.

This is a memorial for the victims of the Wall. It reminded us of the chairs in OKC. We left Sascha before we left the city and were so glad that he had been our city guide! He was very thorough in telling us about each place we went, but even more appreciated, he gave us a list of places to eat in the Sony Center and a paper with his cellphone # & directions on how we might call it if we got lost when we were out of the bus. He went over landmarks to look for when we needed to walk back a few blocks to the bus and made us feel much more confident in an immense city where not everyone was fluent in English! This was an excellent, jam packed day and one of the real highlights of the trip!
