Very Russian statues--the people of Latvia have been frustrated that their culture has been suppressed for 60 years. They are anxious to move ahead.
There are many signs and even a number of cat sculptures on tops of buildings, so when we saw 4 little kittens who had a little window opening to come outside of their home, we cat-lovers who were missing our own cats, had to stop and take their pictures. There was lots of talking to them, also!
This is an example of one of the signs that we saw along the way with cats. The guide said that Riga is known for its cats.
We saw lots of these Latvian dolls in shops, too. We were tempted to get some for our granddaughters, but Piper is too young & Savina & Adriana are past the doll stage. But cute to look at these little dolls.
