Out of the bus in Berlin 6/26/10

The Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz. This is where the East & West Germany meet now but it was at one time bombed & barren for nearly 50 years after having been the busiest plaza in the city before WWII. There are many shops and cafes in the Center.
We had our lunch at Josty's inside the Sony Center sitting outside. It had warmed up considerably by lunch time. Our son Michael & family who live in Hamburg had wanted to meet us in Berlin but we couldn't find out when or where we would have our lunch break so we ended with Bob just talking on the phone with our daughter-in-law while we ate lunch.

We were in Berlin during the World Cup play-offs and many of the cars sported flags showing their support for their team. We got a kick out of this Smart Car with a flag nearly as big as the car!

Another outside cafe in a plaza in a very elite area of shops where we had about 30 min to shop! Hardly time to even go in the big department store behind us.

A typical apartment in our walk from the department store back to the bus about 3 blocks away. They had many flowers on their balconies & in the area along the sidewalk. You only see private homes out of the cities, most people live in apartments all over Europe. And most are quite small spaces.
